Desafío Español's luck ran out today as they lost their match to Emirates Team NZ, thus giving the Kiwis five semifinal wins and putting them through to the Louis Vuitton Cup final. The New Zealanders will take on Luna Rossa Challenge in the finals, which are due to start on friday, 1st June.
Like the semifinals, the final phase of the Louis Vuitton Cup will be a best-of-nine series, where the winner will be the first team to win five matches. The winning team will be awarded the Louis Vuitton Cup and will then face the Swiss Alinghi Team in the 32nd America's Cup match.
