The Spanish and the Americans both need wins today in order to stay in for the running for the Louis Vuitton Cup finals. The odds are against them as both teams are down 4 races to 1, but with changing weather conditions and changing morales, anything can happen.

BMW Oracle Racing tried their luck with a different skipper today, but the result was the same - Luna Rossa Challenge led them for almost the entire race and sailed in for a comfortable win. The Italians have now won their pairing and secured their place in the Louis Vuitton Cup finals.

Desafío Español 2007 fared better than the Americans as they managed to beat Emirates Team New Zealand by 15 seconds, thus keeping them in the competition. The Spanish can afford a brief moment of celebration as there is no racing scheduled for tomorrow, but they are still two races down to the New Zealanders and with only three races remaining in the semifinals there is plenty of hard work still to be done.
