 Battle for the top position / Racing preview 09.05.2007May 9, 2007 With one Flight still to go in Round Robin 2 of the Louis Vuitton Cup, the four semi-finalists have already been decided:
Today's matches will therefore be the last races in the 32nd America's Cup Challenge for 6 of the teams (China Team finsihed racing yesterday since they have a bye today), but those teams are sure to go out and give it their best, racing for pride and for fun. Almost as if it were planned this way, Round Robin 2 will finish with both the 1st and 2nd ranked teams and the 3rd and 4th ranked teams racing against each other. The biggest match of the day is the one between the two top placed teams, Oracle BMW Racing and Emirates Team New Zealand. Since there is only 1 point between them, the winner of the match will top the Round Robin stages and go into the semi finals with the right to select their opponent. Wednesday's schedule is as follows:
Emirates Team New Zealand take the top spotMay 9, 2007 The Kiwis continued their unbeaten run in Round Robin Two of the Louis Vuitton Cup and moved into the top of the leaderboard today after defeating BMW Oracle Racing in the final match of the Round Robins. The New Zealand team are expected to announce their choice of opposition for the semi-finals later this evening. Emirates Team New Zealand choose to race Desafío Español in the Semi-finalMay 9, 2007 The New Zealand team have elected to race against Desafío Español 2007 in their semi final matches of the Louis Vuitton Cup. Therefore BMW Oracle Racing will sail against Luna Rossa Challenge in the other semi final matches. |
