![]() Racing preview, Monday 07.05.2007May 7, 2007 With three teams already qualified for the semifinals, the most important match of the day is no doubt that between Victory Challange and Desafío Español 2007. The Swedes need to win all of their remaining races if they are to have a chance at qualifying whereas the Spaniards need just one win out of their remaining 3 races to qualify. A win by ESP 97 today would seal their place in the semis and destory the hopes for Victory Challenge. With only 3 points separating the top four teams, the match between Luna Rossa Challenge and Emirates Team New Zealand is also sure to be good and could well be a preview of the Louis Vuitton Cup finals. The sailing lineup for today is as follows:
Victory Challenge are still in with a chanceMay 7, 2007 They face an uphill battle but the Swedish Victory Challenge have come a little closer to qualifying for the semifinals of the Louis Vuitton Cup. The Swedes raced against their 4th place rivals Desafío Español 2007 today in a close match which they won by just 7 seconds. However being 3 points up with only 2 Flights to go, the Spanish team still have the better odds to qualify for the semifinal competition. Both of the teams have tough matches ahead, with Desafío Español 2007 set to take on the two leading teams (USA 98 and NZL 92) and Victory Challenge set to take on the 2nd and 6th ranked teams (NZL 92 and ITA 99). In other racing, Emirates Team New Zealand continue their unbeaten streak in Round Robin 2 as they defeated their 3rd-placed rivals Luna Rossa Challenge. Both teams are definetly through to the semi-finals but the New Zealanders are trying hard to qualify in 1st place in order to receive the priviledge of choosing their opposition team in the semis. 1st place is currently held by BMW Oracle Racing and they are set to meet the New Zealanders in their last match of the Round Robin 2 Flights. The last two Flights of Round Robin 2 are gearing up to be very interesting indeed! |
