BMW Oracle Racing and Luna Rossa Challenge are still tied at the top - but Emirates Team New Zealand are gaining ground

May 4, 2007

It was a close race between the Americans and Italians with Luna Rossa Challenge taking the lead early in the race, but BMW Oracle Racing caught a good breeze and overtook their opponents to win the race by 19 seconds thus moving them into the top spot of the leaderboard. The Americans had a bye in Flight 6 however where Luna Rossa Challenge easily defeated Areva Challenge to climb back up into first equal place on the Lousis Vuitton Cup leaderboard.

Emirates Team New Zealand are hot on their tails however as they defeated Desafío Español 2007 and Team Shosholoza to trail the leaders by just 1 point. The Kiwis are unbeaten so far in the Round Robin 2 matches but they still have to race Luna Rossa Challenge in Flight 9 and BMW Oracle Racing in Flight 11 meaning that the battle for the top of the Round Robin stages of the Louis Vuitton Cup is set to be very close indeed.
